Learn to hand paint on silk and cotton fabrics

This video is a very good introduction to fabric painting. There are some outstanding things about this video; there is an excercise which teaches you how to create a color sampler which I think is excellent. Creating this sampler of their own really shows students how the dyes will appear when mixed, and is a great reference, especially since many people who are new to fabric painting tend to be a little shy about experimenting with mixing colors.

The video shows a fantastic variety of techniques. It is definitely worth the money. You learn techniques for painting on both silk and cotton. You also learn about discharge techniques, dye thickeners, color remover and a lot more.

This video does have one downside. In my opinion, the projects that are included are rather uninspired. This will hopefully not be a problem because they are just given as examples to quickly show the techniques the teacher is demonstrating. Hopefully anyone who is wanting to learn fabric painting has their own ideas for projects and designs, so this isn’t a big deal. The point of the video is that you will learn the techniques, and then you can apply them to any projects you want to, not just the few that are included with the video.

The patterns are included as inserts with the video, so if you do buy a used copy on ebay, double check with the seller to make sure they are included. (If they aren’t it’s not the end of the world, but bid accordingly.)

Overall I think this video is definitely worth owning if you are interested in learning how to paint
on fabric.
